- They probably thought you just fell of the IBM turnip wagon (no
- offence).

- Well the reason is unless your a silicon head and really into the
- hardware of the Amiga you wouldn't know the UART (Universal
- Asynchronous Reciever/Transmitter) function is built into the Paula
- chip on the Amiga.

- I don't have the "specs" on the A4000 Paula chip but I'm sure it can
- handle 28.8K modem. You either have a bad Paula or your setup is not
- correct. I suspect the later, as this is where most people have
- trouble.

- BTW IBM clowns use the newer/seperate 16650 UART (I think), if they
- want to go over 14.4k The Amiga, even the A500/A2000 with an
- accelerator should have no problems with transfer rates exceding what
- you can achieve with a 28.8K modem.
